Update

Life has been busy lately!

Thursday I went home to Gilbert for Thanksgiving. We had my family, the Murphys, Jay, and Grandma all over to the house for dinner. I enjoyed hanging out with the family and eating some good grub.

Friday I spent the night with my future household. Kelsey, Cassy, Catherine, Alicia and I are getting a house this summer so we decided to have a sleepover to talk about some stuff and to start bonding. We had a good time and I'm really excited for the upcoming adventure of sharing a house with four other girls...yikes!

Saturday I went out with my mama. We went to Cici's Pizza (yum), Joanne's, Michael's, and the Rustic Hutch. Afterwards I hung out with Brittany who was in town from Denver and then I hung out with Brad and Ashley.

Sunday I went to church then packed up and headed back to Tucson. I hung out with Phil, Bethany, Alicia, and Justin for a bit, we watched Elf then I did homework and went to bed.

Yesterday I had Ag Econ and Farm class then hung out with Trav for a bit. Then I had to come home and do lots of homework.

Today I worked all day...I sealed 2,000 envelopes...I think when I get married that I'll just send out a mass text to invite people...it will be much easier.

Enjoy your week!

Thankful

Well, I've gotten behind on my "what I'm thankful for" posts. Not because I'm unthankful, but because I've been rather busy. So today I am thankful for being busy. For those of you who know me really well, you know I cannot stand being bored or sitting still. I am thankful that my life keeps me going and rarely has a dull moment.

I am also thankful for animals. One because the money I have made off my FFA animals. Two because I just think that animals bring joy into our lives. Three because my FFA animals and horseback lessons were two of my favorite experiences in junior high and high school.

Thankful 3 & 4

Well, I was pretty busy last night and forgot to do a Thankful so I owe you guys two.

Thankful 3- I'm thankful for pictures. This may be a weird thing to be thankful for I guess but I really am. I love looking back at pictures and having good memories. I love looking back at pictures and seeing how much everyone has changed. I love taking pictures, I love being in pictures, and I love sharing pictures.

Thankful 4- I'm thankful for modern technology. I know some people are thankful for technology for the wrong reasons, but mostly I love it at a communication tool. I love being able to shoot an email, send a text, and keep in touch with one easy click. However, technological communication should never replace phone calls, letters, and old fashion in person conversations. ;)

Thankful #2

Today I am thankful for my relationship with God. Thankful because it makes life more beautiful. Thankful because is makes you appeciate everything. Thankful because I know my sins have been forgiven. Thankful because I have someone to turn to. Thankful because I know the power of love. Thankful because it has allowed me to be content in every situation. Thankful that I don't have to be afraid of death, because I know that when I die all the worries of this life will be long gone and I will get to spend eternity in Heaven.

Thankful #1

So I've decided that every day from now until Thanksgiving I will make a post about something I am thankful for. This is one because I have been slacking on my posts, and two because it's always good to count your blessings.

Here goes...

Today I am thankful for my major. I am thankful for it because it suits it me perfectly. I can't imagine a future job that I would love more than working with both agriculture and kids. I am thankful for it because of both the other students and the instructors. The Ag Ed department is my Tucson family. I know I can depend on them and that many of them will be life long friends. The instructors in my major truly care and are willing to help you with any matter, not just school. I am thankful for my major because it has allowed me to find three great jobs. I also love my major because of the experiences and oppurtunities it has given me and will continue to give me.

What a weekend.

Well, I just experienced one of the busiest weekend of my life. I don't have any pictures because my camera's batteries died, but I'll be stealing them from people over the next few days.

My weekend started Thursday with the arrival of Ira Fulton at U of A. Ira Fulton is the owner of Fulton homes and one of the richest people in Phoenix. Ira gave a million dollars to help with the construction of the new building on campus, McClelland Park building. I was given the privledge of chauffering him around for the day. I had a great time with him and found him very knowledgeable and kind. He told me the reason he gives away so much money (about 60%) is because he's already lived his dream and wants others to be able to live theirs.

Friday I woke up at 4AM and headed to the golfcourse to work the AgCat Open. The AgCat Open is a golf tournament put on by the college of Agriculture to raise money for scholarships. When I first got there I worked registration and the rest of the time I worked the "Hole In One" hole where the prize was a Buick Lacrosse, unfortunately nobody one. I saw a lot of people I knew and had a blast with Trav's uncle Wilbur who has done a lot for the college. After the golfers had finished we all ate lunch and had an award ceremony. At this point Mike (a kid I work with) and I got to go around collecting all the signs off the golf course. I think we had a little too much fun driving the carts and eventually ended up getting lost. We all headed back to the school and started getting ready for the burrito breakfast. We finished with that and then went to a board meetin. It made for a thirteen hour work day, but it was fun and I need the money.

Saturday I woke up at 5AM and headed to school for the Burrito Breakfast which is an auction that also raises money for scholarships. I hooked up my computer and started the slideshow then went around and socialized with everyone. Once the silent auction was over I went and called out bidders for the live auction. It was really fun, I'm considering going to auction school over the summer. It's relatively cheap and you make good money once you start doing auctions (plus, I think I talk fast enough). After the auction was over I went and met Mike (from tractor team) at the Student Showcase and watched him do his presentation on alternative fuels. He finished up and then we went and met the rest of the guys from the tractor team for tailgating (it was homecoming). We had an absolute blast. The Aggie boys had a float and when they went by the all jumped off and grabbed me and pulled me onto the float so I got to ride on that for a bit. I eventually jumped off and went back. We played this game called ladder ball that was pretty fun, but then someone accidentally hit Wes with the ball "where it counts" and the game ended. We headed back to Wes's to watch the game...we lost. It made for a great day.

Today is laundry and homework day. I also need to get some groceries so I don't starve!

Stay Classy Tucson

It is freezing in our appartment...constantly. Therefore, fashion has gone out the window and comfort and warmth have taken the lead.

Monday, October 20, 2008

Found this funny.

How to drive in Phoenix
1. You must first learn to pronounce the city name. It is 'FEE-NICKS'.

2. The morning rush hour is from 5:00am to noon. The evening rush hour is from noon to 7:00pm . Friday's rush hour starts on Thursday morning.

3. The minimum acceptable speed on most freeways is 85 mph. On Loop 101, your speed is expected to match the highway number. Anything less is considered 'wussy'.

4. Forget the traffic rules you learned elsewhere. Phoenix has its own version of traffic rules. For example, cars/trucks with the loudest muffler go first at a four-way stop; the trucks with the biggest tires go second. However, East Valley , SUV-driving, cell phone-talking moms ALWAYS have the right of way.

5. If you actually stop at a yellow light, you will be rear ended, cussed out, and possibly shot.

6. Never honk at anyone...ever! Seriously! It's another offense that can get you shot.

7. Road construction is permanent and continuous in Phoenix . Detour barrels are moved around for your entertainment pleasure during the middle of the night to make the next day's driving a bit more exciting.

8. Watch carefully for road hazards such as drunks, skunks, dogs, barrels, cones, cows, horses, cats, mattresses, shredded tires, squirrels, rabbits, crows, vultures, javelinas, roadrunners, and the coyotes feeding on any of these items.

9. Maricopa Freeway, Papago Freeway and the 'I-10' are the same road. SR-202 is the same road as The Red Mountain FWY. Dunlap and Olive are the same street, too. Jefferson becomes Washington , but they are not the same street. I-17 is also called The Black Canyon Freeway, as well as, The Veterans Memorial Highway, and if all that isn't enough to remember, SR-51 has recently been renamed Piestewa Freeway because Squaw Peak Parkway was too easy pronounce. SR-101 is also the Pima FWY, except west of I-17, which is also The Black Canyon FWY, and The Veterans Memorial HWY, west of I-17, it is known as the Agua Fria FWY. Lastly, Thunderbird Rd. becomes Cactus Rd. , but Cactus Rd. does not become Thunderbird Rd. because it dead-ends at a mountain.

10. If someone actually has their turn signal on, wave them to the shoulder immediately to let them know it has been 'accidentally activated.
'

11. If you are in the left lane and only driving 70 in a 55-65 mph zone, you are considered a road hazard and will be 'flipped off' accordingly. If you return the flip, you'll be shot..

12. For summer driving, it is advisable to wear potholders on your hands
